Audrey Gilbreath Named AAF 2016 Silver Medal Winner for Excellence in Advertising

Houston — The American Advertising Federation-Houston has named Audrey J. Gilbreath, CEO and Founder of Gilbreath Communications, Inc., as the 2016 AAF Silver Medal Award winner.
The AAF Silver Medal Award, the first granted locally in 1962, is part of the national American Advertising Federation's Silver Medal program. It recognizes men and women who have made outstanding contributions to their company and advertising and who have been active in furthering the industry's standards, creative excellence, and responsibility in areas of social concerns.
Gilbreath will be honored on Thursday, February 18, during the AAF-Houston’s 54th Annual American Advertising Awards gala at Union Station at Minute Maid Park. Event details at www.aaf-houston.org/.

Gilbreath launched Gilbreath Communications, Inc. (GCI), a mid-sized, Houston-based agency in 1990 and the company has steadily expanded its business and raised its profile, earning recognition over the years as one of Houston’s Fastest-Growing Small Businesses.
GCI is the oldest and largest African-American owned marketing firm in Houston, serving the region and nation with innovative marketing campaigns that apply the best in communication techniques and integrated strategies. Agency specialties include advertising, public relations, graphic design, and cause marketing. Gilbreath and her award winning firm have been featured regionally and nationally for their creative solutions and commitment to diversity.
Public and private sector clients include Shell Oil Company, Houston Airport System, Prairie View A&M University, CenterPoint Energy, City of Houston Department of Homeland Security, UT Health Science Center, Port of Houston Authority, Houston-Galveston Area Council, Spectra Energy, and Rite Choice Pharmacy.
Recognized for her community and civic leadership, Gilbreath is active in area economic development organizations, including the Houston Minority Supplier Development Council (HMSDC), the Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) and the Board of Governors of the Katy Area Economic Development Council. She has served on boards of the Greater Houston Partnership, American Heart Association, The Ensemble Theater, and Missouri City Chapter of The Links.
Gilbreath launched a scholarship in her company’s name in 2013 through the Advertising Education Foundation of Houston (AEFH). The scholarship is awarded to students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) who are pursuing advertising degrees.
Gilbreath has served as board member and president of the American Advertising Federation-Houston and is a member of the AAF Presidents Council. She has also served on the national AAF board, chairing the Mosaic Council of Multiculturalism. The YWCA Houston honored Gilbreath as 2015 Outstanding Woman in Media. GCI was awarded the Greater Houston Business Procurement Forum’s 2015 Marketing and Communications Firm of the Year.
Gilbreath earned her undergraduate degree from Grambling University and master’s from the University of Southern California. She and husband Wardell are avid sports fans. They have two daughters, both professional basketball players and graduates of the University of Southern California.
