HAF Past President Charles Lutz died unexpectedly on Tuesday, August
28th in Grand Rapids, Michigan. In recent years, Charles divided his
time between Grand Rapids, the home of his daughter, and Houston.
On Friday the 31st, in Grand Rapids, there was an Irish Wake, an event
Charles would appreciate. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 4:30 p.m, Sunday, September 16, 2007 at the Houston Racquet Club, 10709 Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77024.
Charles was president of HAF in 1981 and while president of the
Ketchum office in Houston, he provided HAF with its very first
separate office space in the Ketchum building.
Charles Lutz was a huge advocate for Houston's inner city youth. He was
a past president and an active board member of the Houston Police
Athletic League (PAL), and fought very hard to rebuild the organization
after the City of Houston Police Department disbanded the PAL unit in
2004. PAL today has three volunteer officers working with 200 inner
city youth and is growing, thanks in no small part to Charles'
dedication and commitment.
Anyone wishing to make educational, tax-deductible contributions in
Charles' name may send donations to the Advertising Education
Foundation of Houston (AEFH) at P.O. Box 27592, Houston, Texas 77227.
Please make checks to AEFH/GHCF and note In Memory of Charles Lutz.
Donations will be deposited in the Donor Advised Fund and
acknowledgement will be made to his family.
