It has been an extremely exciting year for the Education Committee. The group’s goal is to advance the advertising profession by supporting education. Needless to say, scholarships play a large role in the education process. And, with a lot of hard work, this year is the most impressive year to date. In addition to the seven scholarships awarded this year, there has been growth with existing funds as well as the creation of brand new funds which will be available next year.
The Bill and Sharon Young Media Education Fund was established last year. Impressed with the program and caliber of scholarship recipient, Bill and Sharon have contributed in excess of $85,000 to the fund. Bill and Sharon awarded three separate scholarships in the amount of $1,500 each.

The Houston Chronicle supported the Education Foundation this year with the Houston Chronicle Media and Marketing Scholarship in the amount of $5,000.
· Tricia Rosetty, Howard Payne University
Continuing to lead by both example and his actions is Rich Klein. Rich and his partners at FKM continue to offer their scholarship which was established in 2002 and increased the value to $2,000. In addition to awarding a scholarship, FKM has also extended a summer internship to this years FKM recipient.
· Lyle Jenks, Texas State University
The AEFH is a component of the Houston Community Foundation and is governed by local marketing professionals. The Foundation nearly doubled the revenue of financial endowments. In addition to overseeing other scholarship funds, the AEFH established a fund of its own in 2005. This year the Foundation offered a $1,500 scholarship.

Houston Ad Federation’s very own Alice B Rogers Fund, in existence since 1983, has awarded tens of thousands of dollars in scholarships and grants to area college students.
