Southwest Advertising Hall of Fame Announces New Governor’s Award
AAF-Houston to Host Awards Gala October 2, 2015
Houston, August 2015. The Southwest Advertising Hall of Fame is proud to announce the inaugural recipient of its “Governor’s Award” is the prestigious ad agency GSD&M. GSD&M is headquartered in Austin, part of the Omnicom Group since 1998, and one of the top full-service agencies in the country.
The Southwest Advertising Hall of Fame is sponsored by the Tenth District of the American Advertising Federation (AAF), encompassing AAF affiliate advertising clubs and federations in Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas.
The “Governor’s Award” will be presented at the ceremonial Hall of Fame induction gala on Friday, October 2, 2015, at The Junior League of Houston. The reception and awards dinner will be held in conjunction with the Tenth District’s annual Leadership Conference, hosted by AAF-Houston. GSD&M was founded in 1971 by University of Texas graduates, Roy Spence, Judy Trabulsi, Tim McClure and Steve Gurasich. The firm began as AdVantage Associates, but reorganized in 1972 with the four co-founders as GSD&M. In 2009, CEO Duff Stewart stepped up to lead and formed the agency’s leadership team with President Marianne Malina, Executive Vice President/Chief Marketing Officer J.B. Raftus, and Executive Vice President/Chief Creative Officer Jay Russell.

The honoree firm’s record of service reflects accomplishments made in the U. S. advertising industry and its location in the Tenth District’s four-state area.
The AAF Tenth District (www.aaf10.org/) represents affiliate advertising clubs and federations of the AAF in Arkansas, Western Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas. The AAF is the only national grassroots trade association to encompass all segments of the advertising industry, including advertisers, agencies, corporate marketing departments, broadcast and print media companies, industry suppliers, college chapters and national trade associations engaged in various advertising pursuits.
