Dave brings with him many years of professional and AAF experience. He is currently Director of Sales and Marketing for Texas Video & Post. Steve Latham Bio

Steve Latham is the founder and CEO of Spur Interactive, a strategic interactive marketing agency. Latham has planned and managed interactive campaigns for leading brands, including ConocoPhillips, FedEx Kinko´s, The Scooter Store, Zeno and Pro-mark Drum Sticks, to name a few.

Recognizing an unmet need for interactive marketing services, Latham started Spur Interactive to help companies better utilize digital media to grow their business. Over the past three years, Spur Digital has grown from three to 30 professionals dedicated to producing compelling and measurable results for its clients.

Latham previously held executive roles with PentaSafe Security Technologies, the Houston Technology Center and Yellowstone Capital. Earlier in his career, he also worked for the Boston Consulting Group and Bank of America.

Latham is the founder and chairman of the Houston Interactive Marketing Association (www.HoustonIMA.org) and an active Board member of the American Advertising Federation Houston and Prepared 4 Life. He is a co-founder and Board member of the Houston Technology Center, and a member of the Technology Executive Club of Houston, the Mayor’s Economic Task Force and the Center for Houston’s Future Leadership class. He is a frequent industry lecturer and an active member of the business and non-profit community. AEFH Scholarships

The Advertising Education Foundation of Houston (AEFH) supports education through, among other activities, granting scholarships to undergraduate and post-graduate students. Eligible institutions include not-for-profit or state-supported institutions. Preference will be given to Houston area residents attending colleges and universities in any location, or to students who are attending Houston area institutions. The student must be majoring in marketing, advertising, journalism, communications, graphic design or a related field. Scholarships will be awarded to the most qualified student within the guidelines of financial need, GPA, written and verbal communications skills, and general community and volunteer activities. Students must also demonstrate commitment to the communications industry with internship/work experience, industry activities, participation in communications-focused professional or campus organizations. •    The Advertising Education Foundation of Houston Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to college students pursuing an under-graduate or post-graduate degree in advertising, communications, journalism, radio/TV, commercial art, marketing, public relations or related fields.

•    The Alice B. Rogers Educational Fund Scholarship
Established in 1983, the scholarship recognizes students in advertising or related fields who have achieved educational excellence as well as demonstrated a strong willingness to get involved in their communities.

•    The Fogarty Klein Monroe Scholarship
The scholarship is awarded annually to an outstanding student attending a Texas college. Preference is given to scholarship candidates who have a strong desire to return to the Houston area after graduation. Scholarship winners will also receive consideration for the FKM internship program.

•    The Bill and Sharon Young Media Education Scholarships
The Bill and Sharon Young Media Education Fund awards scholarships to certified sophomore, junior or senior students with evidence of attending school the following year. Students must major in a media-related field such as visual or audio arts, radio, television, film, production, broadcast journalism or new media at an accredited college or university.

•    The Lopez Negrete Hispanic Marketing Education Scholarship
The scholarship is awarded to certified junior or senior students from the Houston area attending eligible institutions in any location, but preference will be given to those attending classes full time at the University of Houston, St. Thomas University, Emerson College or The Florida State University. Students must have selected a major in a marketing related field such as advertising, marketing, communications, radio/TV/film production, media studies or marketing research. Applicants may be Latino or Non-Latino, but must be bilingual and focused in, or with a specific interest in, Hispanic marketing and advertising.TEST

INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

Each year, the AAF-Houston approaches colleges and universities to find students who are looking for summer internships in advertising-related fields in the Houston area. We then compile a list of the interested students and offer it to Houston-area companies who will soon be looking for summer interns.

At the same time, we develop a list of the companies who offer these kinds of jobs, and distribute it to interested students. If you would like to be added to our internship list, please click on the link below, complete the attached Student Internship Form and submit by April 30,2009.

Ed Schipul works at Schipul - The Web Marketing Company (www.schipul.com) located interestingly enough in Houston Texas (long, but short story).

We are the developers of the Tendenci software for associations which is also used by many businesses. The goal is to make friendly software for large groups to succeed in the online world. As a result of our location I earn a bunch of frequent flyer miles flying to the West Cost, NYC and DC areas to meet with clients.

Most of my published writing is mixed in with other articles on our main site here. This blog is interesting stuff that isn't quite as structured. Plus I get to stretch into areas like visualization and public relations that are very interesting to me personally but are not items sold by the team at Schipul.

Brent Trimble is the founding member of Torque │FKM, the digital arm of FKM, an independent ad agency based in Houston, Texas with more than $150 million in capitalized billings and offices in Dallas and Austin. Brent leads all strategy and client development, building the digital team from inception and leading efforts on clients such as Waste Management, ConocoPhilips, and Reliant energy.

Brent is a board member of the Houston Interactive Marketing Association and is active in the Magnet independent agency network, co-chairing their upcoming Interactive Conference, May 2009 in Chicago.

Brent was formerly interactive marketing director at the MRA Group, NY (now Mower) and lead integrated digital efforts there for clients such as ADT, FedEx Kinkos, Corning and Welch Allyn. He attended Liberty University for his BAA communications degree and LeMoyne College for business studies.

A Trip Down Memory Lane - Past Recipients of the Trailblazer Award by Chelo Ruiz The American Advertising Foundation-Houston presented the 2008 Trailblazer award to Walter E. Johnson on Friday, October 17th. With the newly rescheduled Trailblazer Gala , it seems fitting to reflect upon some of the past recipients of this prestigious AAF-Houston award. In 2007, a man who led Houston’s attempt to host the 2012 Summer Olympics was recognized by AAF-Houston. George A. DeMontrond, president of DeMontrond Automotive Group, was chairman of the Houston 2012 Foundation and he also served on the Super Bowl XXXVIII Host Committee Board.
