President and CEO, Martha Turner Properties,

Houston, Texas

Martha Fuller Turneris a leading Realtor, creative entrepreneur, humanitarian, teacher, and family woman with a unique blend of energy, optimism and humor.

Born and raised in the east Texas town of Hemphill, Martha developed her passion for hard work in her family’s store, Fuller’s Dry Goods and Hardware. After graduating from the University of North Texas with a major in music and education, she married and began a fifteen-year career teaching music and geography in elementary school.

Martha especially loved her final and longest position at River Oaks Baptist School in Houston. During this time she remodeled, built and sold a number of houses and real estate became her passion. She retired from teaching in 1979, earned her real estate license, joined a local real estate firm and immediately became a top producer. In 1981, despite a severely difficult business climate, Martha and her friend Nancy Owens opened Turner Owens Real Estate. In 1986 the company became Martha Turner Properties.

Martha was determined that her company would be successful despite any obstacle. At a time when residential real estate was little more than a part-time dalliance for many agents, she envisioned a new kind of real estate firm grounded in knowledge of the market and the law. Every agent would be a committed, principled and experienced professional; every client would receive personal attention; and each transaction would be handled accurately and efficiently. Martha adopted “excellence” as her watchword, and it remains central in the mission statement of Martha Turner Properties.

Today, Martha Turner is a recognized industry leader in Houston and throughout the United States. She has developed Martha Turner Properties into one of the finest independent residential real estate companies in the country. Her personal commitment to agent development, client service, innovative business practices and service to the real estate community has earned her professional recognition and respect. In 2009 she was inducted into the Texas Business Hall of Fame, one of only seven women to be so honored in the organization’s history at that time.

Martha Turner Properties is an affiliate of Christie’s International Real Estate, the real estate arm of Christie’s, and Martha is a frequent lecturer at the company’s national meetings. She is a founding board member of Luxury Portfolio International, the luxury division of Leading Real Estate Companies of the World.

Believing in the essential value of service, Martha has assumed numerous civic, philanthropic and professional leadership roles. Her efforts in support of health care, women’s organizations, the arts, and education have been widely recognized and have earned her a reputation for generosity and commitment to service.
