AN INSIDE LOOK AT HOW FERRARI BECAME THE WORLD'S MOST POWERFUL BRAND

The study, conducted by British research firm Brand Finance, compared the brands of the world’s top 500 companies and concludes that
Ferrari is rated as the world's most powerful brand when it came to overall brand value.

Our May guest speaker, Donald Pierce, has been business director of the Houston Ferrari dealership for over a decade and has a background in advertising, product design, branding, and communications... He was ADD before it was fashionable.

His presentation will cover the history of Ferrari and its single-minded growth from a very small company in Maranello, Italy into a position as the “world’s most powerful brand” all done with an emphasis on racing, not selling cars to consumers.  An overview of the company’s history, it’s branding initiatives, the power achieved when history becomes legend, and strict adherence to it’s goal of pleasing only a few vs. catering to everyone. Turbulent, dramatic, daring, aggressive, personal, Ferrari has achieved catch-phrase cachet—“ the Ferrari of (fill in the blanks)—without compromising the original vision set by founder Enzo Ferrari.  One of the keys to growing in the 21st century is embracing new experience-oriented marketing combined with a wide array of social media…from Instagram to Pinterest.  Highlights of the speech will include videos and  photos that document the company’s racing and product history.

Born in North Carolina to a family of broadcaster Pierce was working in radio and television before he was out of junior high school and  has since worked in industries as diverse as investment banking, television production, and advertising in New York, Washington DC, Boston, Chicago, Paris, Los Angeles, Rome, Beaverton, San Francisco and Houston. He is the winner of multiple awards for creative excellence  and has written for  publications ranging from National Lampoon to Texas Monthly. Employers and clients include Wilson Sporting Goods, News Corp, Nike, Playboy, Disney, Fox, Reebok. For the last decade,  he has been the General Manager of Ferrari of Houston, Maserati of Houston and Ferrari of Austin; currently Operations Director for those businesses as well as Business and Sponsorship manager of Risi Competizione, the world’s top private Ferrari GR racing team. He was ADD before it was fashionable.
