AAF-HOUSTON CELEBRATES 50th ADDY®Awards Gala
MADFEST– A red carpet night to remember

Momentum is building for the American Advertising Federation-Houston’s 50th ADDY® Awards Gala, which advertising professionals will celebrate on Saturday, February 25, at the Hyatt Regency Houston.

“We’re 100 years old this year, one of Houston’s oldest professional, nonprofit organizations,” Board Chairman Alex López Negrete remarked, “and by remarkable coincidence, we’re also celebrating our 50th ADDY®Awards. It’s just a huge year for us.”

“It’s the biggest night of the year in Houston advertising – it always has been,” he continues. “This year’s ‘MADFEST’ is an amazing event with a nod to a certain TV show that captures the ad world of 50 years ago. Many of our members will be making history of their own by winning the much sought-after ADDY®…while at the same time, going down in the record books as individuals and organizations that have created award-winning work. Nothing can change that. It will be in the history books forevermore.”

ADDY® chair Scott Black describes the excitement surrounding the Gala, “This is a four-star dinner show, with fabulous food, live entertainment, a magnificent tour through history, original music, singing and dancing…. and the celebration of excellence that I like to call, ‘50 Years of Showtime and 100 Years of Advertising.’ From the moment you arrive at the Hyatt Regency, you will see and experience the “WOW!” of MADFEST. Plus, there will be a big surprise that has never been seen in this city – you won’t want to miss it.”

Over the past six months, members have spent hundreds of hours researching, writing, and producing the show that honors the region’s outstanding creative work of the past year, as well as the advertising titans and clients who laid the groundwork for creative excellence. Historic materials for the 100-year Legacy project have arrived from personal collections from around the U.S.

LópezNegrete adds, “During the show – and it will be a show – we will be honoring those who came before us and made their own history and determined ours along the way. The Creative Legacy Time Portal is a unique and very comprehensive display of ads, artifacts, and remembrances that will take everyone back to the very beginnings of the organization. You will be able to see the people and the work that made history and lit the way for those of us who followed.”

Everyone is invited to come early to celebrate the winners, be a part of history, and help launch AAF-Houston’s second century. Wear your ‘60s best….  It promises to be a red carpet night to remember!
