NATIONAL PANEL TO JUDGE 50th ANNUAL HOUSTON ADDY® AWARDS
AAF-Houston celebrates 100 years and 50 ADDY Award Shows

As the first big event of a truly remarkable year approaches, the American Advertising Federation – Houston (AAF-Houston) welcomes a panel of distinguished judges from around the country on January 19th to judge the local chapter’s 50th annual ADDY competition.

“We’re 100 years old this year, Houston’s oldest professional, non-profit organization,” says 2012 AAF-Houston Chairman Alex Lopez Negrete.  “And by remarkable coincidence, we’re also celebrating our 50th ADDYs; it’s just a huge year for us, which is why we continue to raise the bar by having what is by any measure an international-level competition slate of judges.”

Judges from New York, Miami, Denver, New Orleans, Los Angeles and Minneapolis will spend two days pouring over the creative best from some 75 Houston agencies, design companies, marketers and other creative service providers in a multitude of offline and online categories.

About 700 entries will be judged in categories from commercials to interactive, packaging to billboards, copywriting to illustration.  Gold ADDY winners automatically advance to regional competition, and winners there enter the national ADDYs.

“It’s the biggest night of the year in Houston advertising – it always has been,” adds Lopez Negrete, “and this year we plan to have an amazing show – ‘MadFest,’ with a nod to a certain TV show that captures the ad world of 50 years ago.”

The ADDY Awards are Saturday, February 25th, at the Hyatt Regency Houston and judging will take place in Houston on January 20th and 21st.

Table and individual seat purchase information and sponsorship information are available by calling AAF-Houston offices at 713-237-9999.
